Types

Membership Categories & Eligability

ANZLRS offers several membership categories to reflect different professional backgrounds, levels of involvement, and career stages each category has its own set of eleigability criteria.

Active member

For registered orthopaedic surgeons in Australia or New Zealand with a significant interest in limb reconstruction through clinical practice or research. Active Members are the society’s voting members and may hold office as directors.

Membership Criteria

- Registered orthopaedic surgeon resident in Australia or New Zealand

- Demonstrated significant interest in limb reconstruction through clinical practice or research

- Fellow or Associate Member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association or the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association

- Continuing interest in the objectives and affairs of ANZLRS

- Commitment to attend the ANZLRS annual scientific meeting at least once every three years, unless dispensation is granted

- Payment of the applicable annual subscription

Corresponding member

For duly qualified practising orthopaedic surgeons outside Australia and New Zealand, or those the directors consider to hold an equivalent qualification. Corresponding Members may attend meetings, but do not vote or hold office as directors.

Membership Criteria

- Duly qualified practising orthopaedic surgeon practising outside Australia or New Zealand, or equivalent qualification as determined by the directors

- Continuing interest in the objectives and affairs of ANZLRS

- Payment of the applicable annual subscription

Life member

For individuals who meet the society’s Life Membership criteria, including former practising orthopaedic surgeons and others with qualifications or association memberships regarded as satisfactory by the directors. Life Members may attend meetings, but do not vote or hold office as directors.

Membership Criteria

- Must also satisfy at least one of the constitutional criteria for Life Membership, including prior orthopaedic practice, previous AOA or NZOA membership, or another qualification regarded as satisfactory by the directors

- Continuing interest in the objectives and affairs of ANZLRS

- Payment of the applicable annual subscription

Associate member

For duly qualified nurses, health professionals, allied health professionals, and others with a recognised qualification or significant interest in limb reconstruction through clinical practice or field research. Associate Members may attend meetings, but do not vote or hold office as directors.

Membership Criteria

- Must meet the fee requirements set by the directors

- Must also be a duly qualified practising nurse, health professional, or allied health professional in Australia or New Zealand, hold another satisfactory qualification, or demonstrate significant interest in limb reconstruction through clinical practice or field research

Honorary member

Honorary Membership is not applied for through the standard application pathway. It may be offered to an individual in recognition of exceptional contributions to limb reconstruction surgery, other branches of surgery, medicine, or another field of human endeavour, subject to approval by members at a general meeting. Honorary Members are not charged an annual membership fee

Membership Criteria

- In order to become an Honorary Member of the company, a majority of members ata general meeting must pass a resolution approving the directors to offer HonoraryMembership to a specified person.

- Honorary Members will not be charged anannual membership fee.

Application

What you need to apply

Eligible applicants must apply in writing to the secretary and provide the required supporting documents listed.

An application to become a member of the company must be received by thesecretary four weeks before the Annual General Meeting (or such other time asnominated by the directors)

Letter of application

Please state your intention to become a member of ANZLRS, this should include;

- Membership class you are applying for

- Your support for the purposes of ANZLRS

- Your agreement to comply with the constitution, including paying the member guarantee

- Your contact details

Two letters of recommendation from Active Members

Submit two letters of recommendation from current Active Members of ANZLRS in support of your application.

Curriculum Vitae

Please include an up to date CV that will allow the directors to assess your application

Process

How membership approval works

ANZLRS follows a formal membership approval process set out in the constitution.

Submit your application

Submit your application to the secretary by the required deadline, generally at least four weeks before the Annual General Meeting.

Directors
considering

The directors consider your application within a reasonable time after it is received.

Member
consideration

If approved by the directors, your application is submitted to members for consideration at the Annual General Meeting.

Application
result

If your application is approved by special resolution at the AGM, your name is entered on the register of members and membership fee becomes payable. If that special resolution is not passed, membership does not proceed.
